Seeing the C message is seen

IT ONLY took Brooke Williamson a few minutes to come up with an award-winning temporary tattoo design to promote Hepatitis C awareness.
The design has now been mass-produced and distributed throughout NSW as part of a state-wide competition for the 'thINK about it' project.

Ambarvale High School student Brooke, 16, was one of three winners in the competition which was run in conjunction with Hepatitis Awareness Week.

Stars come out to celebrate 20 years of Waverley Care comedy gala

Stars of this year's Fringe helped Edinburgh-based charity, Waverley Care celebrate 20 years of their comedy gala - raising funds for their work with people living with HIV and Hepatitis C.

Anthony Alderson, director of the Pleasance said: "It's not all about raising money but it's about raising awareness too. Waverley Care devised a campaign called Laugh off Stigma in a bid to tackle the stigma that surrounds HIV, AIDS and Hepatitis C. Do what you can to support that campaign, Tweet a joke in support."

Woman tours the country to end discrimination against hepatitis B carriers

Xiao Jing quit her job last month and set off on a journey to make a difference.

The 24-year-old woman strolls down the downtown streets of the nation's large cities, approaching strangers with a placard in her hand that says "I'm a hepatitis B virus (HBV) carrier; May I invite you to dinner?"

"It may seem a little crazy, but hopefully, by doing this, I will help more people to understand that they will not get infected by simply having dinner with HBV carriers," Xiao said.

Campaign to create awareness of Hepatitis B virus launched

This is one campaign that intends to go viral, especially among schoolchildren and college-going youth.

“Liver 4 Life”, an initiative launched by MIOT Hospitals, aims to raise public understanding about the Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and promote vaccination against infection by organising a series of free camps.

Actor Vikram, who kicked off the campaign, was quick to spot the resemblance the tagline “B Podu” has with a hit song in one of his popular films “Gemini”.

The Health Foundation stressed the need of hep B vaccination soon after birth

The Health Foundation at an awareness programme on hepatitis at Arts Council of Pakistan stressed the need to formulate a policy for administering vaccination of hepatitis B soon after the birth to prevent the baby from the lethal disease. They said if vaccination of hepatitis B ensured at the time of birth to every child, the deadly disease could be controlled in the country within few years.

San Francisco Hep B Free Campaign

How do you stop the deadliest cancer in America? Deaths from liver cancer are rising faster than any other cancer, and liver cancer is caused primarily by Hepatitis B infection. But there is a vaccine that prevents Hep B infection and treatments are available to stop liver cancer from developing. Hep B Free is a model program being replicated across America to end Hep B and most liver cancers by increasing awareness, screening and treatment.

National Academy of Young Scientists working for promotion of science and research in the country, will distribute a small booklet entitled Hepatitis B and C, Aahm Malomaat in the schools and colleges of all provinces.
